In 2015 I was granted an opportunity to leave my home country of South Africa to join one of the most successful transport and logistic groups in the SADC region at their head office in Zambia.

Some of my core I.T functions include:

1. Team Management: Overseeing a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure a high-performing and motivated workforce.

2. IT Operations: Managing the day-to-day IT operations, including system administration, network management, troubleshooting, and technical support.

3. Project Management: Planning, coordinating, and executing IT projects, from inception to completion.

4. Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing IT strategies aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives. Identifying technology trends and opportunities for digital transformation.

5. IT Infrastructure Management: Overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, networks, servers, and software applications.

6. Security and Compliance: Implementing and enforcing security protocols, data privacy regulations, and disaster recovery plans. Conducting regular IT audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk management activities to mitigate potential threats and maintain regulatory compliance.

7. Budgeting and Procurement: Developing and managing the IT budget, including forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation.

8. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, department heads, and executives to understand their technology needs and align IT solutions with business objectives.

9. Vendor Management: Managing relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and consultants. Negotiating contracts, monitoring service-level agreements, and evaluating vendor performance to optimize service quality and cost-effectiveness.

10. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate documentation of IT processes, configurations, and procedures. Generating regular reports on IT performance, project status, budget utilization, and other key metrics for management review.
